Walmart and Deliv are expanding same day delivery for the grocery chain giant. Now same day delivery comes to the San Jose area, as announced by both companies. The delivery service will operate seven days a week from 8 am to 8 pm.
With same day delivery, Walmart customers don’t have to go to the groceries themselves as now they can shop from home and have the groceries delivered.
Walmart has been testing another delivery program with August Home, wherein the Deliv driver can then deliver the goods not only on the doorstep, but inside the house itself.
The Future of Same Day Delivery
This is just another of the ongoing expansion Walmart has with same day delivery. Last October, the grocery giant has made a partnership with Parcel for same day delivery service in New York City.
While the grocery industry is big, online shopping is only making its growth now in that sector. The market is there for online shopping and same day delivery, and especially for the grocery industry that makes a lot of sense.
For this year, it is expected that consumers could spend around one trillion dollars on groceries. Online shopping and same day delivery then will make things much easier for people to shop without having the need to go to the grocery itself.
San Jose has already seen much of Walmart’s attempts at delivery. Back in 2011 there was already delivery with Walmart’s own trucks. In 2012 Walmart first tried same day delivery with Walmart to Go.
With this new same day delivery program, people will have to go to Walmart’s site to shop. The groceries would then be delivered by Deliv, though customers will have to be around to receive and sign the receipt for it.
