The UK’s number one beauty box, Birchbox, and Etsy have collaborated on a promotion for August.
Birchbox subscribers will receive their August shipment in a summer collection one-off package designed by one of ten Etsy UK Sellers.
Every subscriber will receive their August gift in one of these beauties, chosen at random, along with a 15% off voucher for the seller’s Etsy shop.
While this is a smaller promotion that probably will mostly benefit the ten chosen Etsy UK Sellers, it may be the beginning of more such collaborations in the future.
Expanding Brand Advertising Strategy
In the U.S., Etsy dipped into airing national TV spots to bring attention to its marketplace.
Also, seasonal promotions have shown to increase sales for Etsy and its sellers and the company stated it was embarking on a new advertising strategy heading into the holiday season.
Many sellers have lamented about the recent fee increases. But if the company takes those additional revenues and at least partially reinvests in its brand to bring more buyers to the platform, the fee increases could be justifiable and work out as a win-win for both Etsy and its sellers.
