A few days ago we covered with you the news that this year Amazon Prime Day would be a week later than traditional and would also be taking place for 36 hours.
For those who missed it Prime Day will be taking place on the 16th and 17th July and for a whopping 36 hours which of course will make it the biggest Prime Day ever.
We have also covered with you how as a seller you can make the most of Prime Day for your eCommerce business.
eBay Hijacking Prime Day?
In an interesting move though it looks like eBay are putting their own stake in the ground and looking to jump on the deals bandwagon.
Devin Wenig the CEO of eBay publicly tweeted this just a few hours ago:
@eBay will hold large deals events on the week of July 16 to showcase our significant inventory and price advantages. Expect the next wave of our brand and marketing campaign to launch as well.

This will make that week very interesting to see how much success eBay will have in trying to steal some of the spotlight from Amazon and it’s Prime Day.
eBay have of course been famous in years gone by for their Daily Deals and Weekly Deals which still run on the site to this day. Whether they have been partnering with some of their sellers to work on some deals will remain to be seen.
Also Devin says that we should expect the next wave of their marketing campaign to launch as well. Will this be a follow on from the ‘Fill Your Cart with Color’ campaign that has been running for the best part of a year, or something brand new.
Either way the next two weeks will make for very interesting observing from our point of view, but more importantly with the two marketplace giants pushing big promotions on their channels it could be a fantastic opportunity for you to make more sales in this period.
