With the holiday sales in full swing, fast shipping speed is one of the key things buyers look for. eBay introduces a tweak to its shipping preferences that enables sellers to add weekend handling times.
By adjusting the shipping preferences to include weekends, sellers who pick, pack, and ship on weekends can now show faster shipping speed and delivery estimates to buyers.
In the past, eBay has not included weekend handling days when it calculated estimated delivery dates. For sellers who package and ship every day, this meant shipping estimates were not reflecting how quickly buyers would actually receive their items.
By being able to add weekend shipping and handling times, sellers may realize improved conversion rates on listings and higher sales by comparison to other sellers.
This feature seems to be best suited for sellers in highly competitive categories offering the same or similar products at similar prices. For example, sellers offering products covered by manufacturer MAP pricing policies that are able to ship products on weekends could gain a big advantage over sellers who do not ship until Monday.
Setting weekend shipping and handling days is optional. eBay said sellers won’t be held to weekend handle-by dates if the carrier specified in the listing doesn’t ship on weekends.
