Cloudinary, the cloud-based media management solution used by many leading eCommerce and retail brands, announced a technology partnership with Magento Commerce.
The company’s web-based image and video platform will enable merchants on the Magento Commerce platform to quickly and easily enhance their media assets, including images and videos, and deliver improved shopping experiences across every device and browser.
Statista expects worldwide eCommerce sales to reach $4.8 trillion by 2021, over a threefold uptick in online revenue since 2014, which reached $1.3 trillion.
A successful eCommerce site is much more than its words. Images and videos tell a story and persuade and engage potential buyers.
“We’re pleased to welcome Cloudinary as a Select Technology Partner for image and video management. Their expertise across eCommerce and retail will serve our merchants well, and we’re happy to provide an integration to their solution for enhanced media management — a business-critical function for all online merchants today.”

Speed Becoming a Key Factor in Conversion
This rapid media growth can impact page load times, conversion rates, and even SEO. This is a major concern for sites since the average customer will wait less than three seconds before abandoning a site.
But shoppers are not the only ones that consider site speed. Google uses site speed to rank search results and already announced they will consider site speed on mobile as well.
Merchants need to consider all aspects that can help make their sites load faster. Especially when using Magento, an eCommerce platform known to require significant server resources to provide a good shopping experience.
Cloudinary counts a lot of major brands as its customers and could be a solution for small business merchants to improve the speed of their sites.
The company offers an introductory free plan for 300,000 visuals for small businesses to give them a try. Paid plans are priced pretty reasonable and should fit into many merchant’s infrastructure budgets.
